9th Mindanao Film Festival: Call for Entries

Organizers are now calling for entries for the 9th edition of Mindanao Film Festival slated in the last quarter of this year.

In an official statement released, this year’s edition “will be embracing the theme “Istayl nato.” (Our Style) this festival will celebrate the diverse styles of our regional filmmakers. We aim to recognize the local guerrilla filmmaker with his/her unique style of telling his/her story.”

Here are the details:

Open Category

The 9th Mindanao Film Festival is calling for submissions for completed feature-length films, short films, documentaries and animated short films (new category) made by Mindanawon filmakers or films about, related to, or shot in Mindanao.

Students may also participate by submitting their films in the Student Category (High School & College).

All genres are welcome, such as comedy, drama, and experimental, as long as the film has been completed anytime within October 2012 to October 2013, and has not been screened in the previous Mindanao Film Festival.

For the animated short film category, films must have been completed anytime within 2008 to October 2013.

Those interested must submit the following:
a. Completed entry form
b. Screener copy of entry film in H.264(.MP4), MPEG2 (.mpg), or DVD format

Dealine for submissions is November 8, 2013

Guerilla Filmmaking Competition

The Guerilla Filmmaking Competition is an open-theme and open-genre competition within Mindanao Film Festival where participating filmmakers “race” to produce their 5-15 minute narrative short films during the same time period and are given strict deadline.

Those interested to compete in the Guerilla Filmmaking Competition must submit the following:

a. Completed entry form
b. Synopsis of the 5 to 15-minute short film that is intended to be produced for the competition
c. Samples of previous film/video works from any member of the production team in H.264(.MP4), MPEG2(.mpg), or DVD Format

Deadline for submissions is October 18, 2013
